Waka, Latin Flavours

Waka is the latest Latin American restaurant to launch in Dubai as a result of diners growing demand for this imaginative cuisine. Located in the lobby level of The Oberoi Hotel, Waka offers guests an evening filled with bursts of flavour and a kaleidoscope of colours.

The concept simultaneously brings together art and food, showcasing a fusion of Latin American flavours combined with Japanese seasonings, resulting in a unique and delectable dining experience. The venue is simple yet beautiful, with gorgeous tiled floors and patterned walls. Waka’s lounge area is perfect for those after work drinks or a pre- meal beverage before heading into the restaurant.

Chef Roberto has created an array of contemporary dishes, from a hot ceviche to a truffled wagyu appetizer, the dishes are beautifully fashioned on the foundations of a traditional flavours with a modern touch.

Waka’s many offerings include a Friday afternoon brunch, a late Friday brunch for everyone who hates waking up before noon, ladies night every Wednesday and an extensive a la carte menu. A fantastic addition to the regular dishes is their all-vegetarian menu, which offers an array of delicious Latin American dishes including quinoa sliders and truffle quinoa risotto.

We tried their exclusive tasting menu titled The Waka Journey, which takes you through a Latin American experience like no other. Priced at AED 350, this 10-course menu is sure to leave your senses delighted. From cold and hot ceviches to truffled wagyu, prawns, and spare ribs, every dish hits the right note and is sure to impress. The flavourful journey begins with 4 appetizers, going through 4 main courses and ending with 2 desserts. Be sure to end on a sweet note with their dessert offerings, the salted caramel cheesecake is definitely a must try.
