Brunch
After check-in we make our way to Urban Kitchen’s Friday Brunch. The lavish ‘Wok With Me’ Friday Brunch features a selection of live cooking stations, traditional Indian tandoor dishes, seafood delicacies, Asian noodle station, succulent roasts, fresh sushi, a range of cheeses and sumptuous Thai inspired desserts.
To start our brunch experience we enjoy a selection of fresh oysters and a small side salad. Up next is the roast. I know we should have experienced the Thai inspired dishes but if you were able to see how good the lamb looked you wouldn’t have been able to resist either. Thick cuts of lamb are smothered in fresh mint sauce, topped with gravy and served two large plump Yorkshire puds and a selection of vegetables, divine!
For our dessert we decide to try some of the gorgeous Thai inspired desserts. The black sesame seed cake and the pandan sticky rice are our favourite, full of flavour and bursting with colour.
This brunch is perfect for families or friends looking for a relaxing Friday brunch with a selection of quality offerings. Kids can enjoy a dedicated play area whilst adults are left to enjoy the delicious dishes and professional service from the Urban Kitchen team.
Deluxe Room
After our delicious brunch we make our way to the room. For our visit we are residing in a deluxe room, located on the 21st floor. We take the main elevator and hold our breath. The elevator travels steadily up the large atrium, offering splendid views across the city and full plunging views of the hotel atrium and lobby far below.
As we enter the room we first explore the bathroom. The bathroom offers floor to ceiling beige marble, a large bath tub, a huge walk-in shower with a rain shower and showerhead, a large mirror, a selection of toiletries and a hairdryer.
The bedroom has an abundance of natural light which compliments the warm and welcoming Thai inspired décor. The room also features a flat screen TV, a working desk and tea and coffee making facilities. The quaint desk and large seat next to the window offers a prime position to take in the views spanning across the city and the Eastern Mangroves.
The room is spacious and the golden tones add a hint of luxury without being pretentious. The bed is large and comfortable. The crispy white sheets and smell of fresh linen is inviting but we must shower and make our way to the spa.
Spa
The Namm Spa team welcome us with a traditional ‘Sawadee ka’ and a warm smile. The spa is decorated to reflect an oceanic theme, with large cream sofas and soft teal touches. The team are professional and within a matter a seconds have provided us a ginger tea and warm cloth. Our therapist discusses our treatment with us and suggests the most appropriate treatment.
Namm Spa offers a selection of treatments including hot stone massage (90 minutes AED 700), traditional Thai massage (60 minutes AED 500), refreshing facials (30 minutes AED 295) and signature journeys (2 hours AED 850).
We select the 60 minute Swedish Harmony massage (AED 450). This is also available for 90 minutes for AED 600. The treatment promises the ultimate relaxing experience. Being a Thai brand we have very high expectations of the spa team.
The treatment is performed well and the team are extremely professional. They apply just the right amount of pressure ensuring that the treatment is relaxing whilst releasing muscle tension.
Dining
Tonight we have chosen to dine at The Capital Grill. The chic upscale restaurant boasts a large sophisticated bar serving a selection of creative beverages, guests are invited to enjoy a beverage before proceeding to their table.
The restaurant is decorated in deep metallic grey tones and illuminated by the bright red tiled open kitchen. Seats are large and comfortable and tables are beautifully set.
To begin our meal we are offered a large warm bun with a selection of carefully crafted butters, this is enjoyed whilst we wait for our starters to arrive.
For starters we have ordered the chefs recommendation the Capital Mushrooms, cream cheese stuffed breaded Portobello mushroom with mixed seasonal mushrooms tossed in garlic and the Soft Shell Crab, with tomato chilli jam and lime aioli, cucumber and carrot strips radish pomegranate and corn salad.
The Capital Mushroom is delicious. As our knife cuts into the large breaded Portobello mushroom a lava of cream cheese oozes across our plate. This dish tastes as good as it looks as we take our first bite our mouth is filled with rich cream cheese, crisp breadcrumbs, and earthy mushroom.
For mains we order the Australian Wagyu Livingstone Striploin 250gr Marble 7-8 and the Irish John Stone Grass Fed 21 day dry aged tenderloin 220gr both cooked medium well. For our side dishes we select the garlic mushrooms, steamed broccoli and steamed vegetables.
Both steaks are cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. The succulent meat offers an exuberant taste that delights bite after bite. The sides are well presented and compliment the steak.
Finally for dessert we order a selection of sorbet and the Cheese Board. The Cheese Board features a selection of fine cheeses, smoked Carrigaline cheddar, Gorgonzola, French Camembert, fig compote, delicious crackers and full bodied grapes.
Overall The Capital Grill provided a wonderful dining experience. If you haven’t dined here we would highly recommend visiting. The steaks are some of the best we have tasted in the city and the service is on par.
