The Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi will relaunch Manarat Al Saadiyat this November. Saadiyat Island’s cultural centre will offer a wide range of interactive initiatives and programmes focusing on art, design, music, film, innovation, and lifestyle.
Manarat Al Saadiyat will now include an Art Studio specifically designed to engage visitors in a variety of creative processes, a Photography Studio offering the highest levels of technical expertise, and The Garden Pavilion, an outdoor area, which will provide the perfect space to host a multitude of events. There is also the new Larte restaurant, to sit alongside the already established central events space, as well as a 250-seat auditorium and three gallery spaces for temporary exhibitions. All of which underlines Manarat Al Saadiyat as the cornerstone of the Saadiyat Cultural District and the perfect place for the annual Abu Dhabi Art, which opens this year on November 8th.
The Art Studio space exists to introduce people to the transformative power of the arts by providing casual, drop-in environments for the community to work alongside a team of teaching artists. This new multi-disciplinary creative arts space is designed to bring hands-on arts education programmes, art classes, workshops and outreach initiatives to students, adults, children and families in the Emirate. The Teaching Artists Development Programme will foster the talent of university students and emerging artists with internship opportunities and mentorship. The studio will also host an intimate theatre and performance space for the community to hold small-scale events, film screenings and interactive activities.
The Photography Studio at Manarat Al Saadiyat will be committed to developing and enhancing the professional growth of talent in Abu Dhabi and beyond. It will house a gallery, studio space and world-class facilities including an ‘alternative processes darkroom’, a library, and a variety of production equipment, including cameras, audio gear and lighting and printing facilities. There will also be specialised workshops and training sessions conducted by professional photographers hosting community-driven photography exhibitions as well as developing and promoting a year-round calendar of activities.
A diverse selection of workshops and classes at Manarat Al Saadiyat will encompass lifestyle and performing arts, offering a platform for inspiration, exchange, collaboration and innovation. The daily programme of events will include yoga and fitness classes, Parkour workshops, and film screenings.
Throughout the year, Manarat Al Saadiyat will host a variety of musical performances by Bait Al Oud and Abu Dhabi Classics. For Performing Arts fans there will be year-round performances and drama classes.
The new café and brasserie, Larte, will be a ‘Temple of Italian Hospitality,’ offering a modern interpretation onnorthern Italian and European classics. With a diverse menu, highlights will include world-class coffee from the Illy Café concept, to complement European breakfast, lunch and dinner options and a variety of cakes, pastriesand desserts.
The Garden Pavilion
A new outdoor space, The Garden Pavilion, will be also opened at Manarat Al Saadiyat, providing the perfect alfresco option for a multitude of functions and activities. From outdoor dining experiences to corporate events, to unique weddings, and yoga classes, the space will be a unique setting.
